A local AM has welcomed the Welsh Government’s confirmation that hourly services from Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury will begin from 17th May.
Russell George, AM for Montgomeryshire, who has previously expressed concern over the delay in publishing the timetable, said:
“I’m delighted that the long-awaited timetable for the new hourly services has finally been published and that the people of Montgomeryshire will have a more frequent rail service from 17th May.
“Campaigners from the Mid Wales Rail User Group (SARPA) should be congratulated for the way in which they have relentlessly pressed the case for extra rail services.
“I have also consistently urged the Welsh Government to prioritise this issue, as it is clear that good quality transport connectivity is of significant economic importance to rural Mid Wales.
