Commenting on the Labour government’s publication of proposals for the Glastir scheme, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs and Natural Resources, Russell George AM, said:
“Welsh Conservatives have long called for the simplification of Glastir and improved farm support from Labour ministers.
“This consultation was a step in the right direction and included a number of proposals previously put forward by Welsh Conservatives.
“It is absolutely vital that uncertainty and worry are laid to rest in our farming communities – and those who work within them given the support they deserve.
“Labour-managed Glastir simply wasn’t working.
“Views must now be taken on board by the Labour minister and an appropriate way forward agreed.”
